About Commissioner Jon Herr
Jon Herr has lived in New Mexico since 1977 when his parents moved to Santa Fe. He grew up in the northern communities of Santa Fe and Taos and attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. Jon received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) in 1996.
After graduation, Jon moved to Rio Rancho where he has worked in various industries including Aerospace, ASIC, and FPGA design. "Rio Rancho is my home and I want to make sure it remains a place that is a safe and welcoming place for all who live here or want to move here."
Jon served on the Sandoval County Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Board and shares that this experience as a P&Z Commissioner provided an understanding of how things work at the County government level. “The opportunity to serve as Commissioner for the broader Sandoval County is a chance to bring my experience and problem-solving as an engineer to my constituents. This is important because Sandoval County is one of the fastest and safest growing in New Mexico. Helping assure we grow while remaining safe with a balanced budget will be the rewarding part of serving as County Commissioner,” he says.
